FABULOUS! I love that word… FAB-BU-LOUS! It’s like the best word to use when you live in the city. You walk down the street and see a dress you like. FABULOUS! You meet up with friends whom you haven’t seen for awhile. FABULOUS! You go to the city and announce to your friends that you’re engaged. FABULOUS!
I just adore living in Toronto. There’s nothing better. There’s many, many cities around the world. I lived in 2 of the majorly FAB cities before – LA and Hong Kong. But no place else is home to me like the T.Dot. Every block and every street has its own nooks and crannies. I never run out of places to photograph here. So when we decided to do an engagement shoot, what better place than Downtown? It’s got the vibe and energy that represent this couple. And most importantly, it’s fabulous, just like Himali and Aman.
We hit the streets and went to the BCE place. I was surprised that it is a busy place during the weekends. Tourists and 2 other couples were having their wedding photos taken. That really brought a smile to Himali’s face because in a few weeks, it’ll be her wearing her gorgeous dress. But don’t be mistaken, her dress for this shoot was just too gorgeous! Pink! The funny thing was when she asked me what to wear, I had this mental image of a pink dress and the next day she messaged me her choice. Telepathic powers… I’d like to think so. Did I mention I use to read tarot cards? But I digress.
You can’t be downtown and not make an appearance at Union Station. While everyone was rushing to get home or grab a bite to eat, time stood still for Himali and Aman. Then at the Royal York, even with all the tourists checking in and children running around, we found a quaint little area to capture a loving moment.
I do have to add a foot-note to this though. It was raining the whole day. I know that I love the rain because there’s beautiful lighting, but to be honest, on this day it was frustrating. I would loved to have captured some shots along Bay Street. But like all things there must be a plan B. So if we can’t do the business district outdoors, then let’s do it indoors. I was pleasantly delighted to see that indeed the indoor office shots turned out well. So let it be a lesson. Doesn’t matter where you are. When two people are in love, their happiness radiates in the pictures (kinda cheesy? yah, I’m a sappy romantic like that).
